Pan-African healthsector landscape analysis on Universal Healthcare Coverage, public-private partnerships and digital health
In 2019, AHB was contracted by a Senegal based digital health solution provider to conduct desk review on the status of PPPs, Universal Health Coverage and Digital Technologies in Health on the Continent. The client has an exciting vision for transformative healthcare in Africa through robust solutions that are sustainable and scalable.
AHB provided the client with overview of the frameworks in place for digital health solutions to flourish in the African regions and showcased some examples of digital solutions in Africa, including an overview of global digital health initiatives with a high potential to be successfully implemented in Africa.
Methodology By leveraging our extensive network, and conducting market research, AHB was able to rank and identify the status of policy development and implementation concerning UHC in the African countries, grouped per region. An additional ranking was provided on the conditions and status of PPPs in health in Africa, per country and region as well as an overview of successful PPP models.
Lastly AHB shortlisted the most promising countries per region for our client to engage with based on the above outlined focus areas (UHC and digital health, UHC and PPPs in health).
Impact As a result of our work, our client was able to understand the African digital healthcare landscape and make strategic decisions and had better insights about which African regions they can engage with based on the identified focus areas of (public private partnership in health, Universal Health Coverage and digital health).
