Through a private sector lens, we provide organisations with actionable insights to grow their health agenda in Africa. We have an in-depth understanding of the continent’s health sector and combine this with local and country-specific experience to advise some of the largest institutions, companies and investors on the African continent. We continuously strengthen our expertise by working with leading organisations, helping them to manage relationships with critical stakeholders and understand complex market dynamics.
Our partners – in the development, public and private sector – are adapting their activities to operate in an environment of unprecedented economic risks, increasing regulatory requirements and accelerating technological disruption. It is AHB’s aim to help respond to these challenges and to assist informed decision making and efficient workflows. We serve a broad spectrum of clients globally.
Designing a tailored, in-depth and appropriate route to market, taking into consideration factors such as partners, supply, demand, consumers and competition. We provide strategic advisory services based on years of experience working with public and private sector partners, proprietary knowledge, deep sector expertise and qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Promoting best practices at an institutional or organisational level to strengthen and maintain the capabilities to achieve development objectives over time. This includes working with healthcare executives to help them build their knowledge of technologies and trends and how to leverage them in their organisations, sharpen and expand their leadership skills and cultivate an exclusive global network of peers. It also includes working with healthcare-focused innovator organisations to scale their businesses.
Project Design and Implementation
The work we do under this pillar focuses on unifying the private health sector, supporting the establishment of health sector federations and providing incubation. We provide set-up support (including the registration, constitution, articles of association, memorandum, etc.) as well as the processes thereafter (including governance systems, management systems, strategic planning and resource-mobilisation strategies).
Facilitating trade and business delegations and partnerships. This can be done for healthcare organisations or on behalf of foreign embassies and includes the facilitation of stakeholder meetings, B2B meetings and field visits. In addition, we have a broad and strong network that creates continent-wide linkages for business in both the public and private sector.
Identifying pipeline and portfolio opportunities for private equity, investment funds and individual investors by leveraging our local knowledge and networks. This includes conducting periodic advisory meetings to review client portfolios focusing on challenges and opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Africa Health Business Symposium (AHBS)
Since 2016, AHB has curated the Pan-African Africa Health Business Symposium (AHBS), which sits at the heart of the African healthcare scene. Via AHBS, AHB has been able to set the pace towards constructive working relationships between the public and private sector, create a more enabling environment for the private health sector on the African continent and facilitate effective public-private dialogues. As a result, AHB has been recognised as the private health sector liaison for the office of the Commissioner of Social Affairs at the African Union.
